Mass MH Help: “No Wrong Door”

A phrase that we are starting to hear about mental health care in Massachusetts is “There’s No Wrong Door.” In other words, there are several very complete offerings for care that are now working in Massachusetts. For an individual looking for help or advice either in crisis or not, a call or text can start the ball rolling. Open the door and help is available. This is long overdue.

There are many changes in mental health care in Massachusetts right now. Our affiliate and the community partners we work with are reaching out in a variety of ways to help spread the word about the new opportunities to connect to care. Our affiliate’s January 23rd webinar about the Community Behavioral Health Centers was well attended. A recording of the webinar is available in the button below. The crisis page of the NAMI Central Middlesex website outlines the phone numbers, locations, and links mentioned in the webinar, including a link to a page on mass.gov that enables search for CBHC locations: namicentralmiddlesex.org/crisis

The nine Behavioral Health Resource lists that we created with Emerson Health in Concord are updated to reflect the additions to crisis response. The new versions are posted on the NAMI Central Middlesex website on the resources page and the outreach page, namicentralmiddlesex.org/resources, and on the Emerson Hospital behavioral health webpage. Emerson is also considering a giant “Call 988” sign for the exterior of the medical services building connected to the hospital.

The Mystic Valley Regional Behavioral Health Coalition, which includes clinicians from MelroseWakefield Hospital and surrounding towns, developed a flyer about the CBHCs in their area: Mystic Valley CBHCs Flyer. The NAMI North Shore affiliate plans to share a recording of the webinar they hosted with Eliot that includes details about the CBHCs in Lynn and Danvers.

To keep up with these changes in our behavioral health care system and NAMI programs, if you aren’t already on our list, consider signing up to receive the monthly NAMI Central Middlesex newsletter:  namicentralmiddlesex.org/newsletter.

Below is the Crisis Help and Information flyer created by NAMI Central Middlesex and Emerson Health.
