Volunteer Recognition for Prior Year

Our volunteers are amazing! They create safe spaces, share their experience, and consistently give of their time so others have an easier journey and don’t feel isolated. What an admirable group of people!

The button below lists our active volunteers for 2024, many having served for 10+ years. They fall under multiple categories including facilitators, teachers, helpline monitors, those who support our specific programs like the Faith Community Forums, College Panel, Scarecrow Contest, and NAMI Walks plus those who greet the public at our Community Outreach tables. Our board members and behind the scenes support team keep the finances flowing, the publicity outgoing, and the internal connections rolling.

We want to highlight the efforts of a few of those whose focus has been on parents of youth/adolescents/young adults showing signs of behavioral and emotional challenges. Those parents and caregivers are usually at the early stage of navigating the behavioral health care system and understanding how to balance caring for mental health concerns within their family unit. They have a lot of questions, and frankly, a lot of stress. Our NAMI volunteers stand by to listen and assist.

Dee Febba has been dedicated to serving this population for many years and is responsible for founding our affiliate’s Teen to Adult Parent Support Group (TTAPS). We also want to recognize Andy and Kerry Woodnutt who were part of the founding group of facilitators for TTAPS. They stepped aside this year and will be missed.

Dee has also been a long term champion of the NAMI Basics course and was the driving force behind building and training a new team of Basics course leaders for Massachusetts in 2024. Dee’s determination and relationship building skills will ultimately help hundreds of families who turn to NAMI for support.
