Share your Experience, Consider Fall Volunteer Training Options

In Your Own Voice

NAMI Massachusetts is looking for individuals that identify as having a mental health condition who are willing to share their stories with audiences at schools, universities, businesses, police departments, caregivers, community events, etc. The In Our Own Voice (IOOV) program aims to increase awareness and change attitudes, assumptions, and stereotypes about people living with mental health conditions.

This is a hybrid training program with some sessions via Zoom and others in person. There are training date options that start in mid October through mid December. Check the flyer below for details.

Family Support Group Facilitator

Those with experience attending NAMI Family Support Groups are encouraged to consider training to become a facilitator. Facilitators establish a nonjudgmental environment where caregivers can discuss concerns, learn about local resources, and benefit from one another’s collective knowledge and experience. They provide comfort, hope, and a sense of community. New facilitators will be matched with an experienced team member. Groups generally meet once or twice per month. While most groups meet via Zoom, in person meetings are still an option.

Training for new Family Support Group Facilitators is scheduled to take place at the NAMI Massachusetts office in Woburn, MA on November 2 and 3, Saturday and Sunday, from 8:30 am to 6 pm on both days. Hotel accommodations will be provided for the participants with more than an hour and a half travel time.

Submit the application form available below. Contact NAMI MA Senior Manager, Education & Support Ilya Cherkasov, icherkasov@namimass.org, with any questions. Once on board, NAMI Central Middlesex facilitators turn to our Education & Support Coordinator, Ivy Pompei, for direction and support.
