Treasurer Opportunity for 2024

·      It’s an honor to send a thank-you note to an individual who has given a donation to NAMI Central Middlesex.

·      I feel so happy giving a financial gift to our clubhouses after the fun of Spring Fling.

·      It’s a thrill to offer monetary support to the therapeutic day school, The Victor School of Acton, to help seniors who are going to college.

·      I’m delighted our organization pays for programs like our mental health crisis cards, putting crucial information into people’s hands so it’s available when needed.

These are the sentiments shared by our present Treasurer. Since Jennie Payne started as the NAMI Central Middlesex Treasurer, the openness of the community to give for mental health causes has increased tremendously. Stigma is decreasing and desire to help is increasing! NAMI CMSX is financially comfortable right now because individuals, families, churches, and others are generously giving and supporting our excellent programs.

This is an exciting time to become treasurer. Jennie will be happily providing support to our new treasurer for at least a year. She’s been in this position for 5 years and knows her job well.  2024 will be her last year; January 2024 is a perfect time to start to train a new volunteer.

What time do you need to set aside for this position?

In the light months, you only need to give about 2 hours a week. In the busy times (December-January), you’ll be spending perhaps 2 days per week.

What skills do you need?

Be comfortable with using a computer, including the ability to scan documents, and be proficient with WORD and Excel. You usually balance your own checking account. You are basically organized and have self-discipline. There is no need for a formal accounting background—we have an accountant who will handle the bigger jobs, like taxes, requiring more professional knowledge.

You can be an essential member of the NAMI CMSX Board and contribute a truly meaningful gift to all those who are touched by mental health challenges in our community. Think carefully about it today and contact Jennie tomorrow!!! (jpayne@mulherngroup.org)  Like Jennie has, we hope you will step up to work with the caring and talented group of people who are the NAMI Central Middlesex Board of Directors.
